Introduction

If you do not know how to locate a statute, then this guide is the right one for you.  It is always important to be familiar with the publication cycle of  a law and where it will en up being codified. You also need ot make sure your statute still is good law from when it was published.

You also need to know the distinction between official codes and annotated codes, what access tools are available to you and also how you can update your findings.

At the end of this guide we have added some review questions that will  help assess your understanding of statutory research.
