Important Information for 1L's, LLM's and Transfer Students

LexisNexis

LexisNexis is a comprehensive online legal research system marketed by Reed Elsevier, Inc.  LexisNexis allows you to search for case law, statutory law, and administrative law, as well as treatises, law review articles and other types of information.
How do I use LexisNexis?
Register your password by going to http://register.lexisnexis.com.  After entering an activation code (you will receive an email during Orientation), you will be able to create a username and password. Be sure to remember your log-in credentials that you have created.
What if I have more questions about using LexisNexis?
LexisNexis has student representatives available to help you. If the student reps are not available, you can ask one of the librarians or contact the LexisNexis Representative. Their contact information is available on the LexisNexis home page after you sign onto the system.

Westlaw

Westlaw is an online legal research system marketed by Thomson Reuters. Westlaw allows you to search for case law, statutory law, and administrative law, as well as treatises, law review articles and other types of information.
How do I use Westlaw? 
Register your password at https://lawschool.westlaw.com/register. After entering an activation code (which you will receive via email during Orientation), you will be able to create a username and password.

Bloomberg Law

Bloomberg Law provides Bloomberg BNA content, integrated into a system of primary and secondary legal content, company and market information and news. This is our primary source for Litigation and Dockets, like those in PACER.

ow do I use Bloomberg?
Register your password at https://profile.bna.com/bloomberglaw-activate/. After entering an activation code (received via email during Orientation), you will be able to create a username and password. If you do not have an activation code, you can still register for a password ... it just takes a little longer.  Make sure you use your @wustl.edu email address.

Blackboard

What is Blackboard?

Blackboard is an online course management system that many of your law professors will use.  Go to http://bb.wustl.edu to log in.  

TWEN

What is TWEN?

TWEN stands for The West Education Network.  It is an online course management system within Westlaw.  Your Legal Practice class will use this, as well as Blackboard. 

How do I add a course in TWEN?
Go to http://lawschool.westlaw.com/TWEN/ and sign into Westlaw. Under My Courses, click Add a Course. If you do not see your professor's class, you will need to ask him/her. 

What if I have more questions about using TWEN?
Westlaw has student representatives. Their contact information is available on the Westlaw homepage. If the student reps are not available, ask a librarian. 

CALI

CALI stands for Computer-Assisted Legal Instruction. CALI.org is a non-profit consortium of law schools – of which Hamline is a member – that develops and distributes legal education lessons to the consortium members. The CALI Library of Lessons is a collection of over 875 interactive, computer-based lessons covering 36 legal education subject areas. CALI courses are available online at www.cali.org
How do I access CALI?
Create an account by going to http://www.cali.org.  You will need our authorization code, which you will receive during orientation from your  legal research instructor.  
Where can I obtain the CALI authorization code?
You should have it with your orientation materials.  However, you can also get it here (Once you sign into Westlaw, you will see our CALI code).
